2018 is officially underway and it promises to be a game changer for all signs of the zodiac. In some ways there will be more stability, and in other ways it could feel like a roller coaster ride. Planets are sending mixed messages and it’s up to you to be vigilant about what’s going down next in the cosmos. It’s a year in which tradition will be valued, but at the same time the mavericks and geniuses will be lauded for thinking in new ways.
What’s the reason for this wonky set-up? First, wise old Saturn is now finally in Capricorn, its home sweet home. Saturn is the planet of discipline, hard work and logic—and it’s in the can-do sign known for its work ethic. The ringed planet will be here through the end of 2020, so this is a time in which anyone who is willing to hustle can reap the rewards.
This includes any endeavor that’s close to your heart, whether it’s losing weight, finding love or building your career. Just know that Saturn does not deliver overnight results; on the contrary, it’s famous for dragging things out. But that’s because this sage planet will be pointing out pitfalls and irrational planning on your part, trying to prevent you from making stupid or costly mistakes.
Capricorn is the sign of doing things the traditional way, which might mean that a lady will demand an engagement ring before cohabitating with her gent. Or that you decide to follow a protocol of medical treatment from your M.D. rather than going the naturopathic route. Classic careers such as law, medicine, finance and academia might beckon to you rather than opening up a tiki bar on the beach.
But this is where things get funky. One of the biggest astrological scoops of 2018 is the movement of erratic Uranus into Taurus on May 15th. Uranus hasn’t been in this part of the sky since 1942 so most of you reading this have never experienced this placement in your lifetime. It will be here for seven years, and they promise to be a wild ride.
That’s because Uranus is the rebel of the solar system, the mad scientist, the genius. This is the Tesla of the heavens, the Einstein, Jobs, Michaelangelo, Joan of Arc or Marie Curie. Uranus rules brilliant thoughts, but not just among the scientist squad. Anyone and everyone will be affected, from the artistic types to the buttoned up corporate dudes.
And where is it heading? The money house! That’s right, the planet of genius rolls into the place where we earn an income. Trust me, there will be more millionaires made within the next three to seven years than at any time in recent history. And they will be in all fields, not just the digital world (like Uber, Paypal and Bitcoin).
So if you have an idea for a business you want to start, a screenplay you’d like to write or an investment strategy you’re interested in pursuing, go for it. That’s what makes 2018 so interesting, this mix of risk-taking and thinking outside the box (Uranus) and following logic and tradition (Saturn).
To make matters even more interesting is the fact that abundant Jupiter is in the eighth house of net worth for the first time in 13 years. In astrology, there are two houses that govern dinero: the second and the eighth. By June there will be heavy-hitting planets in both, making this the year to focus, do your research and plan where that first million will be coming from.
For those of you who want to start a side gig before quitting the day job, 2018 is the year to go for it. Passive income (mailbox money) is highly favored, so think about ways to earn money in your sleep. Fortunately with wise Saturn on the job you won’t get pulled into get-rich-quick schemes presented by snake oil salesmen.
Matters of the heart will also be subjected to the same crazy mix. On the one hand we have Saturn telling you to put a ring on it and get pregnant after the wedding, thank you very much. Ditch the broke types and stick with a lover who knows how to earn and save. Hunt down a mature person who doesn’t view drama as an essential part of a relationship. The fabulous thing about Saturn being in Capricorn is that your love life can really become a lot more balanced.
Does this mean boring? Hell, no! Jupiter is in the ultra-sexy house of libido and intimacy until November! Let’s just say that if you want to, uh, experiment this year, you’ll have the opportunity to do so. But chances are it will be within the safe “walls” of your existing relationship. Casual sex and playing the field will be a lot less appealing through the end of 2020.
Singles, you’re in an awesome spot to find someone who’s the perfect mix of sexy, soulful and responsible. We’re talking real romance here, the kind that may seem quiet to the outside world but is passionate and steamy behind closed doors. If you are currently involved with someone and the union is unhappy, keep in mind that 2018 is a super year for finding your true soulmate. Don’t waste time with someone who isn’t the right match. The Leo lunar eclipse on January 31st could push you off the fence and into the arms of someone new.
There will be five eclipses this year, four of them in signs that deal with romance and independence. A common theme running through them is the desire to live your life based on your values and dreams without sacrificing them at the altar of love.
And despite the strong emphasis on achieving goals and making money in 2018, there will also be a heady interest in metaphysics, as Jupiter is in mysterious Scorpio. Reiki, shamanism, Zen Buddhism and Tao, meditation and mindfulness…all of these will be avidly explored by millions of people all over the globe. So despite the joint ventures and stock options, people will be concerned about doing inner work and developing a deeper sense of serenity.
Opening up sexually could be a happy result, along with releasing bad mojo from previous relationships and your childhood.
So what does 2018 have in store for us? Healing. Hard work. Being brave enough to think in revolutionary ways while still respecting tradition. Beaucoup bucks, providing you’re willing to hustle. Juicy interludes in the boudoir. True love, the kind that stands the test of time. What’s not to like about this? I’ll take it!
