Kick back and keep pouring the bubbly as January begins, Virgo. Don’t feel as though you need to hit the ground running on January 1st— jogging on the treadmill, drinking carrot juice and cleaning off your desk. Of all the signs, you’ve been granted kind of a reprieve from all of the New Year’s resolution madness that begins on the 1st.
That’s because there will be a powerful lunar eclipse in Leo on January 31st, and this is really the best time to toss out the old and usher in the new. Leo is your twelfth house of closure and new beginnings, so take the month of January to carefully reflect upon what’s working for you and what needs to go. This includes diet and exercise, by the way. With Venus, planet of ease, gliding in to your house of fitness on the 17th, doing some gentle yoga stretches for the first half of the month is advisable over doing a bootcamp regimen on the 1st. Once your body begins to feel more flexible, then work your way on up in late January and February into a tougher workout.
Instead, begin the new year by focusing on love, your kids, fun and creativity. There are an unusually high number of celestial orbs in the house that governs them as the month begins. A theme that will be important for you this year (and all the way through 2020 for that matter) is love and affection: finding love, deepening it, conceiving children and spending quality time with loved ones. This is all due to hosting Saturn in the sector that deals with love, and considering it hasn’t been here since 1991, you should really be making the most of this energy.
Saturn wants us to handle things maturely and to plan long term, so it’s time to grow up and get clear about matters of the heart and raising a family. There will be an ultra-powerful new moon in this sector on the 16th which will usher in a six-month period of greater intimacy. Singles, the first half of 2018 is truly one of the best times in years to meet someone new. Saturn isn’t known for its speediness; on the contrary, it can drag things out, so don’t start planning your wedding and baby names after the first date, OK?
Speaking of intimacy, erratic Uranus has been retrograde for months in another house that deals with love, the eighth. Your sex life and emotions may have been all over the place in late 2017 as a result, but the good news is that Uranus resumes direct motion on the 2nd. January is absolutely littered with juicy days for romance, with only one rough patch around the 13th to 14th. Good days are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 8th and 9th (these two are BIG), 11th, 15th and 19th.
Another theme that will keep 2018 lively is lucky Jupiter’s presence in your third house of socializing. Yup, this is looking like quite the social year, a time when you really should be out of the house and in the company of others. Energetic Mars will be here too for most of the month, so like I said, keep the Prosecco flowing and don’t worry about major goals until the end of the month.
Jupiter will expand other horizons too, not just your contact list! Travel, going to school, writing, blogging, teaching, lecturing: all of these are possible as Jupiter is in the house of thinking and expressing yourself. If you’ve been considering a career in the graphic arts, sales, teaching, journalism or anything that allows your talents to really shine, then 2018 is your year for making it happen.« This Week’s Horoscope Today’s Horoscope »
