It’s almost as if the cosmos knows that we need a break from 2020’s relentless insanity. We could all use some good news, and it arrives on Monday December 14th in the form of a solar eclipse in optimistic Sagittarius.
Eclipses occur in cycles. Since June of this year, solar and lunar eclipses have been taking place in Gemini and Sagittarius. This will go on for the next two years, and each lunation will be connected the the one that occurred before it.
The previous Sagittarius eclipse was a lunar event that occurred on June 5th. So take a look back to that time and think about what was going on in your life (or your head). Also, what has transpired since then? It’s safe to say that all of us have been under a lot of pressure due to Covid, but of course everyone has had other things going on in their lives.
Here’s the good news: the upcoming solar eclipse on the 14th is a new moon, which means that it opens up a fresh chapter. And it’s in Sagittarius, the most free-spirited sign of the zodiac.
Sagittarius is all about forgetting the past and taking risks. It’s visionary and optimistic. It’s about big-picture thinking, which is incredibly important right now. After all, most of us have been hunkered down in our humble abodes for months. Myopia and lethargy have seeped into our collective soul.
When people are focused on avoiding a brutal disease and are cut off from the rest of the world, it’s easy to forget the things that make us happy, or those that challenge us in a good way. That’s why this eclipse counts: it will pull us off the sofa, make us put down the Cheetos and the remote, and kick our sorry asses into gear.
Now eclipses can be bad, good or middling. For the record, this one is great! Strategic, nimble Mercury happens to be in Sagittarius, clearing some of the cobwebs from our minds. Mercury trines assertive Mars in Aries, another beneficial aspect.
Mars is the planet of motivation and it’s in Aries, the house of self-determination. Trines are the best aspects possible in astrology. Mars and Mercury are holding a discussion about how you’ll cancel out 2020 and create a lovely roadmap for 2021.
As the eclipse occurs, Venus forms a solid aspect with Saturn. These two are holding a meeting in which your future love life and financial situation are discussed. Profits planet Venus is in Scorpio, the sign of net worth AND intimacy with a partner.
Saturn is the planet of long term success, and happens to be in Capricorn, the sign of achievement. Yup, this is one damn good eclipse, I must say.
The only fly in the ointment is Neptune, which squares the eclipse from Pisces. This isn’t really a big deal, but it needs consideration. Here’s how this could be affecting you. Mercury, Mars, Venus, Saturn and the eclipse are all creating this ambitious, visionary energy. Chances are you know exactly what you’d like to manifest next year and we’re not talking little rinky-dink goals.
(I don’t know about you, but as soon as we’re allowed to travel again, I am off to the airport and I don’t know when I’m coming back. I intend to eat out in a restaurant every night of the week until I go broke or become as big as a house. All of this Covid stress has made me very aware that time is precious, life is short and when this mess is over, I intend to live life to the fullest.)
Neptune could create doubt as to how you’re going to pull something off. The blue planet might also stir up fears or memories, the kind that remind you of times you tried in the past and failed.
But hey, this kind of mental stuff comes up without Neptune acting up. That’s why I say it’s not a deal breaker.
And if you need a pep talk or some solid advice, both Saturn and Jupiter zip into Aquarius a few days after the eclipse. Aquarius is the sign of mentors and trusted confidantes. Gathering wisdom from people is going to be a big theme for the next three years, so don’t be shy about asking!
So this eclipse is designed to get us out of old, tired ways of thinking and doing things…..which covers a lot of territory. Things like: dead end jobs. Toxic relationships. A tired, achey body. Getting passed over for promotions because you lack skill or knowledge. Watching TV or surfing the net instead of engaging in hobbies, sports or quality time with loved ones. Be honest with yourself—you know what you’re tolerating.
For the record, Sagittarius governs specific activities, people and occupations. As for careers, Sag favors entrepreneurship in a BIG way. The same for jobs in medicine, law, the travel industry, academia, the media and publishing.
Sagittarius is the sign of foreign travel, studying languages and meeting people with different philosophies than your own. So don’t be surprised if you pick up a book about Buddhism or the Freemasons. I’m so happy that this eclipse is in the travel sector, as it should support everyone who has been impacted by the lockdowns.
In romance, a Sagittarius eclipse tells you to be more, uh, adventurous (use your imagination). If you’re looking for love, you could find someone new who comes from a different culture or mindset than your own. Long distance relationships are quite possible, but don’t forget that murky Neptune is around. Make sure that you know who you’re dealing with if you go down this path.
Sagittarius energy prompts us to learn more, so now is the time to sign up for a course. Serious programs like MBAs and medical school are included. There is no shortage of online classes, and some of them are free (like Duolingo, which I go on every night to learn a new language. So when the travel restrictions disappear, and so do I into the wild blue yonder, I can chat with the locals in another country.)
Enjoy this eclipse! Speaking of studying, I am putting together an 8-week online course which I plan to debut in early 2021. It’s all about learning the fundamentals of astrology so that you can become your own astrologer. If you want to take a shorter, free mini-course, here’s the link: https://my-stars-horoscopes.mykajabi.com/pl/233830
In this mini-course you’ll learn about the house system (four houses out of 12 govern love!)….the different personalities of the planets (why Mars is aggressive and Uranus is batsh** crazy)….and how to determine the big themes that are coming your way in 2021. It’s fun, easy and educational, so sign up today!
