“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” Marilyn Monroe
OK, everybody, a show of hands. Who wants to have another year like 2016? Uhh….I’m waiting…I’m hearing crickets…don’t see too many hands up. What?? You want to completely chuck your life and start over? Well if that’s the case, this week’s full moon in Gemini is just the ticket. 2017 is a mere three weeks away, which means that many of us are considering what we’d like to experience and whom we’d like to become in the year ahead. Don’t wait until December 29th to start thinking about it. Utilize the power of the full moon to get in touch with your passions and ideas.
This lunation occurs on Tuesday the 13th in Gemini, which is the sign that governs thinking and self-expression. Since full moons bring things to a tipping point, don’t be surprised if your brain is spinning with notions about what to go after. If you’ve been in a rut, or life just hasn’t been as exciting as you’d like it to be, now’s a good time to make the decision to switch things up.
Make no doubt about it, this full moon is a game changer. That’s because serious Saturn is in a tight angle, supporting the Sun. Saturn is all about being level headed, considering the long term and having the discipline to pull things off. This means that the decisions you make will be based on logic, not foo-foo crazy ass thinking. You’ll be willing to take risks but they’ll be calculated ones, not foolish. And the people around you will realize that you mean business this time.
Despite the sobering effect of the ringed planet, there is an element of “Hell, yeah, I’m going for this! F*** it!” That’s because the rebel of the solar system, Uranus, is in fine form, trining the Sun the day before the full moon. With El Sol in the house of adventure, there’s practically a planetary conspiracy in place to bust you out of the same old circumstances as if it were a jail break.
Will everyone in your circle be pleased to death with this spunky new attitude? Ummm…probably not! Most likely a lover or business partner, from the looks of it. Jupiter in the commitment sector is at odds with Uranus, indicating that there could be resistance from your amour. Singles, you may be feeling so ready to rock and roll that you may question whether a lover would hold you back. But this doesn’t mean Splitsville for anyone, because a happy Moon-Jupiter aspect means that you can talk things over with a partner. Just don’t expect instant acceptance of your ideas.
So how can you harness the energy of the Gemini Moon to your advantage? Here are a few tips to get things moving way before the ball goes down at midnight in Times Square.
1. Be an original. Under current planetary aspects, this is no time to be one of the crowd. Gemini is the sign of thinking in a fresh new way. So just because you’re a soccer mom, it doesn’t mean that you need to wear mom jeans. Or sport a mommy haircut. What’s wrong with being a Yummy Mummy? Or a Boho Chic Mummy?
This may sound counterintuitive, but one of the best ways to be an original is to first copy someone else. Yes, you heard me right. Let’s say that you’ve always admired the style that a certain celebrity or blogger has, whether it’s their hair, wardrobe, home decor or cooking style. Instead of just oohing and oohing (and seething) as you look at their glamorous photos, start downloading and printing and clipping. Create a notebook or file folder of the pictures that speak to you the loudest. Then ask yourself, “why do I like this so much?”
Maybe it’s their uncluttered home decor, whereas every flat surface of your home is covered with chachkas. Perhaps it’s the fact that their recipes are loaded with farm fresh veggies and you keep serving the frozen stuff. It could be the shade of lipstick, or the casual elegance of the clothes they wear. I did this photo clipping thing myself recently and realized that just about every home decor photo I collected had the shade indigo in it. Obviously that color is calling out to me, and with my all-grey decor a pop of indigo would be perfect.
Listen, celebrities especially have highly paid stylists who choose the right look for them, based on their height, weight and coloring. Find a celeb whose has a body shape similar to yours and a clothing style that you’d like to emulate. Study the photos and you’ll start to realize why certain outfits work for them. Then get to work. You may be saying to yourself, “But Jenna, how am I going to be an original if I’m copying someone else?”
This isn’t about copying another person: it’s about defining and then refining your taste. It’s learning what floats your boat. The photos serve as a template, a starting point to get your creative juices flowing. They urge you to take a risk and to switch up your style. Then once you get going, there’s no turning back. Once you realize that you don’t have to look or live a certain way, you start coming up with your own unique style.
They do this all the time in art school, by the way. Beginning students are encouraged to copy the masters just to learn how they thought when they drew or painted. How they held the pencil or brush, what colors they chose and why. It’s a mind opening experience that lets you peer into the psyche of someone who’s not afraid to take a chance. If you don’t believe me, try copying some of Picasso’s line drawings, especially the Cubist stuff. It’s like looking through his eyes. Freaky but fun.
2. And speaking of art school… Gemini is the sign of absorbing information, analyzing it and then using it. So if you think that your life would improve by taking a class or seminar, go for it. Whether you head back to college or just take a weekend workshop, the purpose is to become more skilled. This is an excellent time to apply to a trade school or get licensed in a particular area.
Just so you know—Mercury retrogrades next Tuesday the 19th in the career sector, so many people will spend the end of 2016 examining their options for work. The same day mighty Mars enters Pisces, the most secretive part of the zodiac, indicating that there will be opportunities to explore other options as long as you keep it hush-hush. So despite megawatt Uranus urging you to bust loose from restrictive circumstances, such as a soul sucking job, the wise person quietly examines their options in the weeks ahead.
This includes starting your own business, writing a book, or blogging. Since Gemini deals with the way we communicate, any occupation that deals with speaking, writing or drawing is highly favored: teaching, lecturing, sales, marketing, public relations, and the graphic arts.
Despite the fact that the week after Christmas is usually a slow one in the business world, the cosmos has a packed schedule every single day from the 26th through the 30th with one auspicious career aspect after another one. Don’t assume that you can’t get anything done until the new year when it comes to your career. Start researching and networking now, especially since Gemini is all about mingling and chatting people up.
Even if you’re not interested in leaving your current position you can still take advantage of the cosmic energy on offer. This full moon is superb for brainstorming, be it by yourself or with a team. With innovative Uranus nearby some of the ideas you come up with can really take off.
3. And speaking of careers… Our girl Marilyn Monroe said, “A career is wonderful but you can’t curl up to it on a cold night.” Amen, sister. If your love life is in the doldrums this full moon could entice you to make some major changes, stat! Two weeks from now Uranus goes direct after being in retrograde motion for the past few months. This may have created an erratic, back-and-forth vibe in romance as you may have been unsure as to where you stood. Once Uranus resumes direct motion on the 29th, clarity will return and you’ll be able to deal with romance issues with a greater sense of peace.
If finding new or better love is on your resolution list for 2017, the Gemini full moon is your time to get glam and get the heck out of the house. Attend Christmas parties, book signings, art gallery openings, church events and seminars. Face to face meetings trump online dating right now. Get active in your neighborhood as this is the best place to meet someone new. And this means while running errands, so consider yourself warned. With the Moon in a fabulous angle to lucky Jupiter in the commitment house, a new person could become a serious contender, not just a holiday fling.
And don’t be surprised to find out that someone is secretly crushing on you, regardless as to whether you’re attached or not! Or are you the one who’s desirous? Love planet Venus is in that secretive twelfth house, and on Christmas Day she makes not one, not two, but three potent aspects with other planets. Love is definitely in the air as Christmas approaches but there’s kind of a confidential vibe going on. Perhaps your secret Santa is someone who wants to do more than just have you sit on his lap, if you get my drift.
