May is a month that has two sides to it. On the one hand, you will be very focused on personal issues, such as love and your emotional well-being.
After all, as May begins the Sun, Venus, Mercury, and Uranus are all in your house of deep intimacy. This sector also governs your net worth, so the need to shore up your finances will be there. There’s a safe, conservative feeling going on.
But you will also be interested in expanding your mind and doing things differently, maybe taking some risks. You’ll be feeling more audacious and lively. This transformative energy arrives after the Sun enters Gemini on the 20th.
Mercury and Venus glide into Gemini earlier than this, so you could start feeling a bit more daring around May 8th. That said, take your time and don’t jump into anything too quickly. That’s because some big changes are coming during the last week of the month–like Mercury going retrograde, and a lunar eclipse in Sagittarius. More on that later.
Let’s talk about love first! In astrology, several houses govern romance. As mentioned, when May begins the Sun and other planets are in your house of sex, intimacy and forming a deep bond with a lover. This is your eighth house.
The fifth house is lighter and friskier, and Jupiter and Saturn happen to be there. This is where we find a new love or enjoy spending time with an existing lover. It’s all about flirting, going out on dates, eating out and having fun.
Saturn is the planet that wants to bring long-term success and happiness to whatever it touches. Considering that it’s in your house of romance, chances are you’re not in the mood for one-night stands or dealing with problematic people.
For the record, the ringed planet starts to retrograde on the 23rd. If there is any immaturity within a relationship, it will come to the fore. Likewise, if you’re involved with someone who isn’t right for you, it will become obvious.
Furthermore, Jupiter pulls an interesting move on May 13th: it enters Pisces for a ten-week stay. Pisces is your sixth house of selflessness. When planets are in this part of your chart, you are in a very giving mood, especially with a lover. However, this has to be a two-way street. You can’t be the only person in a romantic relationship who is giving without getting anything in return.
So May is going to be a month when you’ll want to ditch the mama’s boys, divas, and petty types. You’ll especially feel this around the 3rd and the 8th. Practicality counts, especially when it comes to moving in with someone, getting engaged or having kids.
If you meet someone new, take it slow. You want a compassionate, cooperative relationship that has balance to it.
In addition, the new moon on the 11th is in your eighth house. A Mercury-Chiron square indicates that you are done with being second best. If a lover is pushing you around, won’t commit or is worse–married–the new moon could spell the end to this.
On the flip side, there is a confident, sexy air around this new moon. Jupiter is getting ready to enter Pisces, which is the most physical part of your chart. If all is well in your love life, the new moon and Jupiter’s move could open up a sizzling phase that you’ll totally enjoy.
Money matters will be a focus in May, such as paying down debt and saving more cash. This is not a smart time for borrowing large sums of money or buying big ticket items. Swag and unnecessary purchases can wait. Chances are you’ll be interested in learning more to earn more. This energy gets strong when the Sun enters Gemini on the 20th.
Mercury and Venus are already in this part of your chart, although Mercury is scheduled to go retrograde on the 29th. Regardless as to what you do for a living, big plans may start to stall out when Mercury backspins.
If you’re an entrepreneur, you definitely have to make sure that everything is spit and polished before you launch. If you have any doubts—and this goes for all Libras– don’t launch anything until Mercury resumes direct motion next month. A lunar eclipse is arriving on the 26th , which is usually a good moment to finalize some kind of a project. However, with Mercury starting to backstroke three days later, revisiting and refining projects is a better choice.
The lunar eclipse is a good time to wrap up any kind of written or artistic piece. Things like term papers, doctoral thesis, marketing plans, manuscripts, contracts, your art portfolio, even citizenship papers and other applications. But with Mercury retro, things won’t happen quickly. Be patient and expect to make headway in June.
