On Wednesday September 9th, aggressive Mars begins to retrograde in Aries. This is truly significant, as Aries is the sign of the rugged individual, doing their own thing. With an Aries full moon arriving on October 1st, you’re going to want to take charge of your own destiny—in a big way!
Mars is the planet of motivation. It helps us get things done. When it’s in Aries, we really become focused on our own self image and desires. For some people this pushes them into an egotistical place where it’s their way or the highway. But for most normal people, a healthy interest builds in going after their dreams.
So when Mars starts to slow down on the 9th, are we going to become less interested in pursuing our heart’s desire? Nope. But we will become less anxious and more thoughtful about the path ahead. The good news is that the Sun is in practical Virgo through the 21st, which will help you set things in motion. Create the habits you need in order to grab what you desire, whether it’s a trimmer body or a bigger bank account.
However, a word of warning is in order here. Mars will still be retrograde into October, but boy oh boy, is the red planet going to be on a rampage. October promises to be a highly combustible month. 2020 has already been a wild roller coaster ride, and October’s cosmic aspects aren’t going to be calm and chill. Mars is partially to blame for this.
Let me set the stage here: once October rolls around, Mars is going to be in a difficult aspect to Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn. Capricorn is all about authority figures: bosses, big clients, government agencies, major corporations, judges or anyone else who can affect your life. You know, the kind of people who can make life miserable for you if you piss them off.
With combustible Mars in “me-me-me” Aries snarling at planets in the house of tradition and authority, a lot of clashes can take place. On a national level we may see even MORE protests here in the US, and chances are they won’t be peaceful.
But on a personal level you have to be very careful about what you say and do once Mars starts to retrograde. Putting on your bossy pants and swaggering around all day in them isn’t going to win people over, and that includes dealing with your family and lover.
The problem is that Mars retrograde will put everyone in a “where is my life going?” kind of mentality. Which is OK if it’s done in a mature, philosophical manner…..but aspects that begin in early October could bring out the childish, tantrum-prone side of people.
I’ll delve into this more in my report about October, which I’ll publish later this month. For now, know that Mars’s retrograde on the 9th can be your best friend is you work with its energy. Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn are all currently retrograde in Capricorn. This means that decision makers may be slow to act. Red tape is tying things up, and Covid just adds to this.
You may be in a state of flux due to the retrogrades in Capricorn, trying to figure out which direction to head in. Maybe you feel as though you lack control over your life, as the Covid virus and economy are making decisions for you.
Good news, my friend: Jupiter goes direct on the 12th and Saturn does the same on the 29th. The career and money logjams should start to break up. Other big life plans, such as getting married or going to grad school, could start to feel like a reality in the not-too-distant future.
Pay very close attention here: if you are unhappy in your current job, relationship, housing situation, level of health, or anything other major situation, you must deal with it to the best of your ability before October arrives. Get a grip on it somehow. Because once October begins, the s*** is gonna get real.
Mars retrograde will help you think things through carefully rather than a hair-trigger reaction (which is what’s going to go down next month). For example, if you’re fed up with your job, start looking for a new one. Come to peace with the fact that your boss is an a**hole, or your co-workers. Start doing the inner work that’s necessary to rise above their nonsense.
Even if you can’t get out of a particular situation by October 1st (at which time there will be a full moon in Aries), figure out what to do next. Resolve to keep calm and carry on. Because if you don’t, October will be a month when you’ll feel like a tiny little rowboat being tossed around in a hurricane.
Because October is looking so funky, I’m releasing the October monthly horoscopes a bit earlier than usual. Normally I would post them at 8 pm EST on Wednesday 9/30, but this year I’m going to let them go live on Sunday September 27th. October takes off quickly, and I want you to be prepared!
