I’m not going to lie, May is going to be an “interesting” month (LOL). Pluto, the planet of personal power, started spinning backward in April. In May another serious dude–Saturn–does the same. Oh, and that little rascal Mercury joins the retrograde club on the 29th. Right after a lunar eclipse on the 26th! So get ready….things start to get real funky in May, especially after the 20th.
I feel like Paul Revere riding on his horse at midnight, yelling “the redcoats are coming, the redcoats are coming!” Head for cover! Batten down the hatches! You get the idea.
For the past few years, a plethora of planets has gone retrograde in the April-May-June time frame. 2021 isn’t going to be any different than years past. Let’s take a look at how this is going to affect you.
As May begins, the Sun and Uranus are in Taurus, one of the stablest signs of the zodiac. We crave security and routines when the Sun is in Taurus, not to mention going shopping for some well-deserved treats!
As Taurus governs earning and saving money, this is a good time of year to find a new job or to score a raise. The Taurus new Moon on the 11th is a superb time for finding a better gig and more cash.
That said, don’t expect things to happen overnight. It’s not just the retrogrades that are going to slow things down, my friend. On May 13, abundant Jupiter glides into Pisces, a rather unusual situation. After all, the gas giant just went into Aquarius a few months ago, its first visit there in over a decade.
Because of Jupiter’s elliptical orbit, it tore through Aquarius in just a few months and zips into Pisces on the 13th. But it’s only going to be there until late July, at which time it retrogrades back into Aquarius.
Pisces is the most thoughtful part of the zodiac, secretive too. It’s a great place for conducting research, not just in your career but all areas of your life.
Say you’re thinking about getting a medical procedure. Or working with a therapist to uncover why you feel and act the way you do. Or you’re thinking about getting divorced and you want some quiet advice from an attorney.
While Jupiter is in Pisces you can make big strides. Jupiter also brings a lot of optimism to whatever it touches, so if you’re dealing with difficult issues, they may be easier to handle than you might expect. Just remember, while Jupiter is in Pisces there is the need for secrecy!
Keep this in mind when Saturn starts to retrograde on May 23rd. The ringed planet is in Aquarius, which governs friends, colleagues and clubs that you’re part of. We’ve all been locked down and we’re dying for social interactions with people, but with Saturn spinning backward in Aquarius you need to be careful about how much information you reveal to others.
Another way this could play out is that team efforts could become strained. For example, you have to go back to the office and it’s a sh** show because people aren’t used to working that way after being at home. Family members and friends could be planning a big event, such as a wedding or family reunion, and no one can agree about the steps to take. You may realize that some of your “friends” don’t have your back, and you feel like pulling away from them.
Aquarius also happens to govern technology, so if you are in a line of work in which you rely heavily on a website or blog for your income, make sure that everything is running smoothly.
So Saturn goes retrograde on Sunday the 23rd. Three days later, on Wednesday the 26th, a full moon/lunar eclipse takes place in Sagittarius. This lunation should be a superb time for wrapping up a big project, the kind that deserves lots of media attention or kudos.
Sagittarius governs foreign travel, international affairs, the fields of law and medicine, media and publishing, and basically expanding your mind through some interesting adventures. Considering that an eclipse is taking place here, major changes could happen that are designed to propel your life forward.
But… freakin’ Mercury starts to retrograde on Saturday the 29th in Gemini, which is kryptonite for launching anything.
Here’s an example. You’re an entrepreneur and you’ve spent the last eight months putting a business together. You’ve worked on the website, the marketing plan, the product line and you’re finally ready to go live with everything.
The lunar eclipse on the 26th should be the best time in 2021 to throw the switch, but when Mercury starts to retrograde three days later you may realize that things are not as polished as they should be. There are copy mistakes on the website. Facebook won’t let you run your ads because you’re violating one of their crazy rules. Your social media assistant goes AWOL.
Or you’re planning a big vacation. After all, France’s President Macron just announced that vaccinated American tourists should be able to travel there in May. But there’s one teeny tiny problem there, Mr. President: as I write this only 7% of your population has been vaccinated, you’re in your third mandated lockdown, there’s a 7 PM curfew and a lot of places of interest (like museums) are still closed. I would go to France in a heartbeat, but not if I can’t enjoy it to the fullest.
So these are the kinds of things that you have to consider towards the end of May. Big juicy things may be calling your name, but with all of the retrogrades going on, you really need to think things through.
The good news is that the Sun enters Gemini on the 20th, which is the sign of short distance travel and socializing with your friends in the neighborhood. I live in New York City, where Mayor Bill de Blasio just announced that he expects everything in the city to be up and running by July 1.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo can’t stand de Blasio. Every time the mayor makes a statement like this, Cuomo comes out and says, “hell, I can do better than that. I’m the person who decides when New York opens up, and I want things up and running before July 1!”
Are you as tired of politicians as I am?! The point that I’m making here is that with the Sun in Gemini, there will be a lot of pressure on politicians to get things open again. After all, Gemini governs your local neighborhood and everything that goes on there: shopping, dining out, street fairs, flea markets and all the other things that we miss so much.
So enjoy the month of May! Things are starting to turn around in many places corners of the globe. I have a lot of fans in India, and my heart goes out to you right now, as I know how difficult things are there. But don’t lose hope; the lunar eclipse will put pressure on other countries to help you out, as Sagittarius is the sign of foreign affairs. Stay strong.
