It’s October, the spookiest time of the year. Yikes – – hasn’t 2020 has been frightful enough? Well, there are still some more surprises in store for us! October brings two full moons–one on Halloween– and Mercury retrograde. With a contentious presidential election ahead of us and the need for a Covid vaccine, this month could be a bit of a bumpy ride.
However, despite the cosmic shenanigans, there are still some bright spots in the month of October. One of the best pieces of news is the fact that Pluto resumes direct motion in Capricorn on October 4. For the past few months, three planets–Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto–have been spinning backwards in the house of career and big goals.
This has had a chilling effect on people finding work or achieving other important milestones in their lives. Fortunately, that all ends early in October when the last of the three, Pluto, resumes direct motion. Logjams should start to loosen up and forward momentum develops.
The first full moon occurs on October 1 in the individualistic sign of Aries. There’s a reason why the symbol for Aries is a ram: this is the sign of fearlessly charging ahead. The only issue is that Mars is also in Aries right now, making everyone a bit too pushy. Be careful about mouthing off to authority figures, or people you may need in the future. It’s one thing to be focused and ambitious, and another to be arrogant.
On Friday the 2nd, glamour girl Venus glides into Virgo, the sign that governs health and fitness. If you have packed on the Quarantine 15, this is an excellent time to start getting serious about diet and exercise.
OK, now let’s talk about Mercury retrograde, shall we? At the top of the month the messenger planet is in Scorpio, the house of sex and intimacy and scoring big bucks. Yep, your personal net worth is found in the same house as boudoir activity!
Mercury begins to retrograde on the 13th, which means that you need to be super careful about finances: especially credit card debt, big loans, inheritances, court awards and investments. Issues about your sex life, not enough communicating, jealousy, and the past could come up.
Fortunately this is a short episode, ending on the 27th. But Mercury isn’t done retrograding yet! On the 27th, it continues to backslide into Libra, which also deals with serious relationships. (At least money isn’t part of this sector.)
As a result, you’re not done with relationship issues. Libra governs not only romantic alliances, but business ones too. For example: people you have on retainer, such as a lawyer, stylist or virtual assistant. It could also be a standard business partnership.
In a sweet cosmic coincidence though, Venus glides into Libra the same day. So even though Mercury will be retrograde in this part of the sky, the planet of ease and charm will also be there!
It’s time for a Public Service Announcement, folks: everyone needs to be on their guard on Sunday, October 18 and Monday the 19th. It ain’t a pretty picture. Just about every planet in the solar system is snarling at another one. People are going to be tense and unpredictable. They could also be condescending and uncooperative.
Money issues could crop up out of the blue, such as an unexpected expense or a difference of opinion about how money should be spent.
A Venus-Neptune opposition could turn coworkers into complete slackers and passive aggressive bi****es. Likewise, don’t expect customer service people to want to serve you with a smile.
That said, tucked into the madness is a delicious Venus-Jupiter trine, one of the best aspects possible. Both of these planets are in houses that will enable you to make progress with your goals. If you can avoid all the nonsense going on around you, and not let your emotions get riled up, you can actually get somewhere!
Then on Thursday the 22nd, the Sun glides into the most mysterious house of them all – – Scorpio. I always find it interesting that Halloween occurs during Scorpio season. It’s a peanut butter and jelly kind of combination, as both of them are all about the occult, psychic phenomena, and getting in touch with your hidden wild side.
This year’s Halloween celebration is lit up by a glorious full moon in Taurus. Pay attention, though – – unpredictable Uranus is very close to the moon, meaning that just about anything could happen! It could be in your personal life or on the world stage.
Considering that the presidential election is a few days away from Halloween, it’s possible that some major news could hit the airwaves (although at this point, I think that we can handle just about anything. Just recently I was thinking about the 1996 movie, Mars Attacks! If you haven’t seen it, do so. I was thinking that it kind of sums up what 2020 has been like. Martians invade the US, and Jack Nicholson plays POTUS).
